turns out i am 16% republican. i am greatly saddened by this. whenever i see a bush/cheney sticker on a car I do feel the urge to ram the car. i am not a non-violent bleeding-heart liberal. i accept that sometimes violence is necessary. the rich and powerful are not going to hand over power because we asked nicely or because they become convinced by the logic of our rational arguments that a more equal dividing up of the wealth would be for the best. i think i should stop now...although the title of my blog is hear my whine and bitch and i could definitely bitch and bitch and bitch about republicans, bush, cheney, patriarchy, mamby-pamby liberals, etc., etc. but i need to go to my daughter's lacrosse game. how many games have i been to this season? nearly 1 full game. i think if i don't go they will have to start getting the bad mother of the year award ready for me.

I cannot believe i am starting a blog

first off....i admit a certain fascination with blogs. for some reason some people are willing to write what they would write in their diaries and private journals in their blogs and post them for all to see. it is the psychological equivalent of looking at a car accident you pass on the highway...you have to fucking look and then you are a bit sickened by what you see and that you had to look. i also get the feeling that blogs are a part of our society's embracement of 'reality' tv shows. everyone wants to be a star. some blogs do have that element of look at me...LOOK AT ME....LISTEN TO ME.

ok...that being said why am i blogging? i guess first off i feel the need to write something about how my life is going and what i am up to for myself and for my friends. i don't always get the time to email or call my friends and this way they can check up on what i am up to. i WILL not be using this as a journal.

also if you have read any of nick hornsby's columns in THE BELIEVER that are now collected in Polysyllabic Spree i would like to fashion my blog after that style. this does not mean that my writings will be as witty, fun, and as well-written as mr. hornsby but I will try to document what i am reading, listening to and watching.

what am i doing now?
1. Watching Oswald on Noggin. (Holy shit squiggy off Laverne and Shirley is the voice of the penguin) Don't like it much.
2. Obviously not reading. I just got done reading and listening to jonathan lethem's book of essays, The Disappointment Artist. Read it.
3. trying to recover from the pain and heartache of missing Paul Westerberg in concert at St. Andy's last Friday. I had 3 tickets but my kid was in the hospital. there were a few minutes of indecision (it wasn't like he was going to die) but i always think what if they re-enacted this scene from my life a la inside journal or something i could only come out looking bad.
4. getting ready to go pick up Ellyn from lacrosse practice so she can inform me of her plans for the night. these will probably include me driving around or me giving cash out. OR BOTH.
